New Year, new challenges, new opportunities.

In New Year

Happy new year

As I get older the years seem to pass by much quicker. As a child, the wait from January until Christmas seemed like a lifetime. For a lot of people, the days between Christmas and New Year provide space to relax, catch up and take stock. The sermon at my church on New Year’s Day included these 3 points which I want to share with you:

– LOOK BACK with Thanks
– LOOK AROUND with Joy
– LOOK FORWARD with Hope

2016 has been a year of many significant things, from Brexit to Trump, and even worse, the passing of Princess Leia!
If we take time to reflect on the past year, amongst the hard times we can find times and things to thank God for. If we look around, we can all find Joy, whatever our circumstances. And in particular, as we enter a new year, we need to look forward with Hope.

Within the last year, CTUK has seen growth on many fronts. It is encouraging to see people engaging with the website and utilising the Facebook group to ask questions and gain advice.

Over the next year I am looking forward with HOPE that CTUK will grow further and provide support, knowledge, advice, encouragement, and training to those involved in tech and media within UK Churches.

There are several things that we would like to do, but as a friend reminded me, it takes time! Over the next year, the areas in which we hope to focus are:

– The Blog: more posts, more regular content
– Networking with christian firms and organisations
TechLabs: we’ll be launching these as part of our networking, with the aim of connecting with techs locally and at larger events by hosting get-togethers etc.

Can you help?
Like many things in churches, volunteers and helpers are needed. With our aims this year I would like to ask for your help. As much as I enjoy writing content, I would love to be able to feature different voices. Could you write a blog post? Are you a professional tech who could you take part in an interview? If the answer is yes, please get in touch with us, via

2 more things…
Finally, two requests for other ways in which you can support us here at CTUK:
1) Please share CTUK with other churches and church techs
2) Please pray for CTUK and its vision and heart to connect with church techs.

And finally…
From all the team at CTUK,

Anthony Lear

Anthony lives in Sheffield with his wife Fiona and there 2 daughters. He works for AVMI within as a Event technician. Anthony is the founder of Church Tech UK, an initiative designed to support, develop and equip those that work and volunteer within a technical capacity in UK Churches.
